6 Places You Wouldn’t Believe Exist | Yosemite Edition
On our road trip we’ve been to some INCREDIBLE places that we didn’t even know existed before this year. Out of everywhere we’ve gone, though, Yosemite has been my favorite. Allie and I put together a list of the 5 spots that seemed too good to be true.
Yosemite Falls
When we turned the corner and saw this view, we forgot how to breathe for a minute. It didn’t even look real. This picture was taken on the Lower Yosemite Falls trail, an easy paved 1.2 mile walk. If you’re really feeling adventurous, though, give the Upper Yosemite Falls hike a try. This hike will take you from the valley floor to the very top of the waterfall. It just about killed us but it was well worth the views!
2. Glacier Point
If this picture looks familiar, it’s probably because it was the background on your Mac at one point or another. Seeing Half-dome from the valley floor is one thing, but seeing it from a high elevation gives you an entirely different perspective. You can get to this spot via the Four Mile Trail, or if you’re feeling lazy you can drive there on via Glacier Point Road. Just keep in mind, the views are ALWAYS better after a hike :)
3. Vernal Falls
We found the end of the rainbow- next time I’m bringing my shovel! We totally didn’t expect Vernal Falls to be as incredible as it was. We got to this spot via The Mist Trail, a 2.3 mile moderate hike. Considering the name of the trail, we expected to get lightly sprinkled with a refreshing mist, but by the time we got to this point in the hike we were SOAKED. BRING A PONCHO!
4. Taft Point
If you look closely at the picture above, you’ll see Allie and I standing carefree on the edge of a cliff. If you listen closely, you’ll hear a crowd of people yelling at us to be more careful… We love Taft because it gives perspective. Pictures and videos often don’t do a justice in showing the true nature of the hight and depth of these cliffs. Taft point, for some reason, is one of those spots that does show the true greatness of Yosemite!
5. Tunnel View
Tunnel View is the first crazy view you’ll see if you enter the park from the East side. The view often takes unsuspecting tourists by surprise, and is actually the cause of frequent car accidents (so pull over b4 you take the pic!).
6. Upper Yosemite Falls
Last but not least is Upper Yosemite Falls. We hiked here from the Valley Floor, and it was FOR SURE one of the hardest hikes we have ever done. But as you can see from the views above, it was also one of the most rewarding!
Final Thoughts
One thought that I’ve had throughout our time in Yosemite is that if these views of creation are going so far beyond ANYTHING I have ever even imagined, HOW MUCH GREATER IS GOD? One day I will turn the corner of my life and stand before him, just as I turned the corner and stood before Yosemite Falls. I can only imagine what I will experience on that day.
